Chosen Genre: Pop Rock/Blue Eyed Soul

The genre of our song that we will be using for our music video is Pop Rock/Blue Eyed Soul.Artists such as Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood and Duffy are all within the Pop Rock/Blue Eyed Soul genre. At first we was really skeptical of the genre we was going for. At first we thought of the idea of going something that is mainstream, such as the genre Pop. Nowadays a lot of people between the age of 13-30 listen to artists such as Rihanna or Jessie J. So we wanted our song to influence and aim at that target audience. However because it's mainstream, it was a bad idea since it would mean using CGI or applying a lot of expensive props into the music video. After listening to Kiss Me Slowly by Parachute we knew that going for a niche genre such as Country would be more beneficial and the best option we have. I and Mumina love songs that convey a wonderful or meaningful message, and it's a personal music interest to me as I love songs that are played by guitars and pianos. It's very relaxing and it's aimed for any target audience. Additionally, another reason for choosing this specific song and genre is because Pop Rock/Blue Eyed Soul has a naturalistic feel to it, in contrast to todays genre such as Pop, most of songs today are auto-tuned and the instruments used are artificial and edited. Overall most country songs are performanced base becoming straightforward and allows us to make a simplistic narrative.
